The recent revelations of dishonesty and deceit from the freshman class of the Republican Party in Washington show that the GOP has a serious problem when it comes to ethics & honesty. This is nothing new for the party, as many of their policies are based on lies and misinformation, but it isn’t just their policies that are questionable, their personnel are too. Does ethics matter to Republicans anymore?

George Santos from New York was caught lying on multiple occasions while running for office and was elected as a result of that deceit. Even with this knowledge, members of his party, including Kevin Kiley, support his lies, proving that they still support him even when members of their own party expose his dishonesty.

Anna Paulina Luna and Andy Ogles were also recently uncovered to have lied about their accomplishments in order to be elected into office. Both ran on platforms that promised more jobs and greater economic growth, despite evidence proving otherwise. This blatant disregard for honesty shows just how far the GOP will go to get what they want with no regard for truth or accuracy.

Taking a step back and examining the platforms that the Republican Party is running under its banner reveals an even darker picture. They want to ban a woman’s right to choose nationwide, eliminate social security, cut taxes on corporations regardless of income level. Republicans aim to reduce environmental regulations, enabling big businesses to continue polluting the planet, and they repeatedly lie to get elected into office.

When President Biden called them out about it in State of the Union address, Republicans called Biden a liar but Biden had the receipts and there have been many instances where Republicans had revealed their true desire to eliminate Social Security and Medicare.

You can’t trust Republicans to tell you the truth as is evident by their track record. They claimed they wouldn’t ban abortion, but in 13 GOP-run states, they have banned abortions with no exception for rape and incest.

It proves how little respect they have for their own constituents as well as democracy itself since without these lies there would be almost no way for them to win elections anymore given how unpopular these policies are amongst most Americans nowadays.

It has become increasingly clear that we cannot trust Republicans. Republicans lie without difficulty to get elected into office or pass unpopular legislation without caring for truth or accuracy.

The only way we can make sure they don’t win anymore is if we stay informed and aware of what they’re doing at all times so we can call out their lies whenever possible and hold them accountable for their actions instead of letting them slide through unscathed like so many other politicians have before them. We need to remind Republicans that ethics matter to the voters.

Does Ethics Matter To Republicans Anymore?
